Port Na Craig Footbridge refurbishment

Client – Perth & Kinross Council

Duration – 7 months

October 2013

Description – The scope of works  to carry out strengthening replacement and refurbishment of Port NA Craig Footbridge linking Pitlochry to Port Na Craig.  The existing concrete foundations were strengthened by encasing the existing anchor block in new structural reinforced concrete.  On completion of the concrete the load of the entire bridge was temporarily supported through temporary structure into the new foundation to allow for installation of new chain  and connections at both ends of the structure.

A full new paint system was installed the bridge.  Bringing it back to its original colour.
Due to working over the River Tummel we had to develop an innovative design that would allow access to the underside of the footbridge without having any equipment within the river. We designed an under slung rolling platform system suspended from the bridge that allowed access to the entire underside and sides of the structure.
